Geoffrey Lewis

Geoffrey Lewis was born in 1933 and commenced his museum career at Worthing Museum and Art Gallery in 1950. Since then he held the directorships of both the Sheffield City Museums and the Merseyside County Museums at Liverpool. He retired as Director of Museum Studies in the University of Leicester in 1989. A past president of the Museums Association, he has served on many of its committees and been closely involved in its work, particularly in developing computerized documentation for museum collections and in curatorial training. He has also worked in the international field, having just completed a period of six years as President of the International Council of Museums.
