Russell Lyon ('Vet on Call') is a practising vet who firmly believes in the power of preventive medicine. A farmer's son from the Scottish Borders, he went to the Royal Dick School of Veterinary Medicine in Edinburgh from where he qualified as a veterinary surgeon. Having been in the same mixed practice for over thirty years, with his particular interest and love of equine work, Russell has written several books on animal care along with countless articles for riding magazines.
